The com- pany said heavy rain in its key markets, as well as scheduled maintenance at one of its Bay Area delivery points, con- tinued to impact volumes. Sales at Long Beach, Calif., were better than expected during the quarter and, when combined with expectations for several large orders early in Q2, necessitated re-allocating volume from immediate sales to restocking inven- tory at the Long Beach terminal. Total sales volumes in March 2016 were strong at approximately 314,000 tons which is consistent with monthly vol- ume expectations for the full year. Over the past several weeks the com- pany has supplied materials for three large foundation pours at the Ocean- wide Plaza project, totaling approx- imately 35,000 tons of sales from its Long Beach Terminal in late March and early April, with a fourth pour for a further 10,000 tons in late April. The Oceanwide Plaza project is a 2.5 mil- lion-sq.-ft. multi-use development in downtown Los Angeles with an esti- mated cost of more than $900 million. In addition to the large volume pours, the company said it is seeing a better sonal level, and really understand what drives them to do what they do." One of the advantages of this partner- ship is the awareness that the program continues to bring to teachers about construction industry opportunities – perhaps the strongest conduit to help- ing students understand the breadth of opportunity available to them. " I d i d n' t r e a l i z e h o w t e c h n i c a l ly advanced off-road equipment is," said Ron Morris, automotive teacher at Broughton High School. "All of the com- puterized engine control is very much like what we teach in the automotive program. It was very beneficial for me and the students to see how what we're studying translates into heavy equipment." Volvo Construction Equipment and its golden-painted articulated hauler will continue to travel throughout North America in 2016. The hauler will end its journey at ConExpo-Con/Agg in March of 2017, where it will be auctioned off, with proceeds benefitting training pro- grams that encourage new generations to enter the construction industry, including SkillsUSA and Skills Canada. The new company will operate as BMC Sand, LLC. FAST FACT BMC Enterprises Acquires Lincoln County Sand & Gravel BMC Enterprises Inc., the parent com- pany of St. Louis-based Breckenridge Material Co., completed the acquisition of Lincoln County Sand & Gravel. The acquired assets will immediately increase BMC Enterprises aggregate production and will strategically pro- vide long-term access to a significant natural glacial sand and gravel deposit. The new company will operate as BMC Sand LLC. The acquisition is consistent with BMC Enterprises' long-term sustainable growth strategy within the construc- tion materials industry. "Once again we are pleased to be able to expand the portfolio of our aggre- gate holdings. We are excited about the immediately accretive effect, as well as more importantly, the long-term stra- tegic value that this acquisition will have for our downstream ready-mix and asphalt production facilities," said Nathan McKean, CEO and owner of BMC Enterprises Inc. Earlier this year BMC Enterprises launched BMC Asphalt LLC as a way to continue diversifying its construction material offerings in the St. Louis met- ropolitan area. Founded in 1925, Breckenridge Mate- rial Co. is a family owned and operated company headquartered in St. Louis, Mo. BMC Enterprises has become the largest provider of ready mix concrete and construction materials in the St. Louis regional area operating more than 35 locations throughout Missouri and Illinois. The company said heavy rain in its key markets, as well as scheduled maintenance at one of its Bay Area delivery points, contin- ued to impact volumes. FAST FACT Polaris Symied in First Quarter
