The pre‐registration process has been designed to assist attendees in making the most of their MINExpo experience. For example, dur‐ ing the registration process, attendees will be asked to participate in the new MatchMaker program. Those that do will be prompted to select the equipment and services that interests them the most. About a week before MIN‐ Expo 2012 begins, they will receive an email listing all of those exhibitors. The MINExpo 2012 technical program takes place during the mornings of Tuesday and Wednesday (September 25 and 26). Experts will deliver 20 presentations on various subjects related to mining and mineral processing. One session will focus on automation, and two sessions will discuss mine safety. The NMA will present the industry's CORESafety initiative in the technical sessions and at the association's booth. The technical program in 2008 was a huge success, and 2012 is shaping up to be even better. In an effort to give Rock Products readers an inside ‐ advantage, we contacted a number of equipment manu‐ facturers to find out what they are planning for MINExpo 2012. Some of the companies were not prepared to talk about plans in advance, while others are purposely with‐ holding information to make special announcements at the exposition. But, many equipment manufacturers and service providers did share their plans and the following MINExpo Preview compiles the information gathered as of early July. Cat to Have Largest Exhibit No matter what their interests – surface or under‐ ground, hard rock or soft rock – MINExpo visitors will find the machines and technology at the Caterpillar (Cat) exhibit to help them mine and move minerals safely and productively. In the center of Central Hall, Booth 6229, the largest exhibit space at MINExpo, Cat will showcase the broadest line of mining and materials handling equipment available – and backed by the most extensive and capable product support team in the worldwide mining industry. At MINExpo, Cat will reveal a number of innovative min‐ ing systems and machines. One such machine, never be‐ fore presented to the mining public, will offer an unprecedented, efficient means to step up production loading of ultra‐class haulers. Making best use of size and energy storage technology, the new loading tool promises to lower cost per ton in world‐class mining operations. For underground coal, the next generation EL3000 long‐ wall shearer features a state‐of‐the‐art communication system for advanced automation and monitoring. The Cat longwall system includes personnel proximity detection and underground cameras that can be linked to a surface monitoring center. www.rockproducts.com Cat will introduce the MD5150 track‐mounted drill at the show. Surface miners will be pleased to see a Cat engine powering the MD6240 rotary blasthole drill. They also will get to kick the tires of the latest edition of the work‐ horse 777 truck, the 777G, which meets North American Tier 4 emission standards. The 777G also has adjustable fuel saving strategies, performance improvements and en‐ hanced safety features for sustainable, low cost produc‐ tion. The next generation D11T track‐type tractor also features Tier 4 emissions compliance as well as the En‐ hanced Auto Shift system, designed to conserve fuel by automatically selecting the optimal reverse gear and en‐ gine speed, based on load and desired ground speed. The three largest trucks in the Cat line – 797F, 795F AC, 793F – will share space with loading tools, the 994H Ex‐ tended High Lift designed to efficiently load 250‐short‐ ton size class trucks and the 6030B FS hydraulic front shovel representing the extensive line of Cat shovels. The 6030B is the first of the Cat B Series hydraulic shovels and features a state‐of‐the‐art new cab and operator environ‐ ment with productivity enhancing on‐board electronics. Support equipment on display will include the new Cat CT660 vocational truck‐equipped as a service truck. The CT660, available only in North America, is the first Cat branded on‐highway truck and can be fitted with many different bodies to serve the needs at hand. Additional support equipment includes the recently introduced C175‐20 generator set, which produces the greatest out‐ put, as much as 4 mw, of any single high‐speed diesel gen‐ erator set available on the market. In addition to the main exhibit in Central Hall, Caterpillar OEM Solutions will exhibit in the Silver Lot at booth 18162. The new 777G WTR is one of the specialized Off‐ Highway Truck chassis that the group offers in a configu‐ ration designed specifically for water truck applications. OEM Solutions also will offer information about the new Cat water delivery/control system being field‐tested now and will be available on the 777G WTR. www.mining.cat.com Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Booth 2121 Following a tradition of major product releases at MIN‐ Expo, Atlas Copco has a few surprises in store for the 2012 event. The company is asking attendees to visit the booth and see the next generation of Rig Control System (RCS), the launch of a new Pit Viper and a new "top se‐ cret" underground product. Atlas Copco will feature equipment from six divisions in 17,000 sq. ft. of space, in‐ cluding products for surface and underground mining and drilling, exploration drilling, and related equipment such as rock drilling tools and portable energy products. The new SmartROC D65 down‐the‐hole drill rig has advanced automation and is ideal for presplitting.
