EQUIPMENT TECHNOLOGY Rotary Feeder Valves + Wireless The MD Series of rotary feeder valves from ACS Valves are constructed with an 8‐vane rotary valve that ensures proper pressure sealing at the inlet and outlet flange. The optimal seal can reduce compressed air loss by up to 28 CFM/year, notes the company. The MD Series housings are CNC‐ma‐ chined to precise tolerances; eliminating axial shaft move‐ ment, seal leakage, and shortened bearing life. Maintenance cycles are further extended with an outboard bearing design that removes the bearings from the path of damaging and con‐ taminating materials, and protects the bearings in high tem‐ perature applications to 750 F, while easily managing application pressure differentials up to 15 psig. ACS Valves MD Series rotary feeders are available in cast iron, or cast 304 or 316 stainless steel. Seven valve sizes are available from 4 to 16 in. Rotor configurations include: closed‐end, metering, shallow‐pocket, Teflon‐coated, and adjustable‐tip. Adjustable rotor tips are available in EPDM, hardened steel, stainless steel, bronze or polyurethane. Interior surface coating options include: hard chrome, tungsten, and Teflon. ACS Valves, www.acsvalves.com Transceivers Specialized wireless transceivers from Ritron provide OEMs and In‐ tegrators with wireless connectivity and COTS convenience in a compact, cost‐effective package. Available in various configurations – including RF transceivers and radio modems – they permit integra‐ tion into systems demanding utmost performance in con‐ gested frequency environments. A small footprint minimizes space requirements, while all components are placed on the top side of a single PCB for mechanical rigid‐ ity and increased protection against damage. Narrow band (12.5 kHz) and very narrow band (6.25 kHz) models are available; data streaming and packet modes can be supported; and, dual transmit and receive audio paths are available. The Swift Lock synthesizer‐loading algorithm reduces unit turn‐on‐time to less than 10 ms or high‐ speed data throughput, and Controlled Envelope keying reduces adjacent channel "keyclicks," resulting in spec‐ trum‐friendly operation. All models meet the 2013 FCC narrowband mandate. The Ritron DTX Plus and DTX‐Ls series transceivers and the DTXM RadioModem can be tai‐ lored to suit particular application requirements. Ritron Inc., www.ritron.com Slide Gate Vortex's patented HDP Slide Gate has been a proven so‐ lution for a wide variety of applications for handling sticky and/or abrasive powders in systems with posi‐ tive pressures up to 75 psig (5 bar). The HDPV2 offers significant enhancements over the original HDP design. New features include a wider bonnet that eliminates a dead pocket where material could potentially build‐up. Other design changes include a longer body frame to allow easier inspection and replacement of seals and wear parts while the gate remains in service. New mod‐ ifications also include a replaceable nylon insert on the rising clevis, which allows for easy and inexpensive maintenance. The HDPV2's unique ramp system offers a shimming system that compensates for seal wear over time. The valve's design incorporates an o‐ring seal through the bonnet and utilizes reusable precut gaskets to eliminate material leakage to atmosphere. The air cylinder mount is cast into the frame, which reduces potential areas where leakage could occur. Vortex Valves, www.vortexvalves.com 50 ROCKproducts • OCTOBER 2012 www.rockproducts.com
