FOCUS ON WORKFORCE ISSUES. "Virtually every company in our industry is experi- encing difficulty attracting and retaining qualified workers, so the Meetings & Education Committee bolstered the AGG1 Academy's Leadership & Business Development Track to provide more learning and idea-sharing oppor tunities for attendees to address this problem," said Galassini. Classes in the Leadership & Business Development Track will include sessions on identifying workers from nontraditional backgrounds, digital marketing and recruiting, building organizational effectiveness, improving your company's communication and culture, and differentiating your company from the competition for talent. Representatives from various types of aggregates companies—family- owned, local, regional and multi-national—will take part in a panel discussion on the challenges they face recruiting blue-collar employees and share tips and techniques that are working for their companies. AGG1 will be co-located with the 2019 NSSGA Annual Convention, Feb.10-13, which takes place at the JW Marriott Indianapolis. In addition to the high-level business insights and updates, networking events and governance meetings that attendees expect from the convention, the general sessions will continue the focus on how to address workforce shortages and give a look into what the manufacturing sector can expect in the coming years as technology continues to advance. In the opening general session, Monday, Feb. 11, at 7:30 a.m., attendees will hear from Byron Reese, leading futurist and CEO and publisher of Gigaom, one of the world's leading technology research companies. Reese helps business leaders under- stand the implications of emerging technologies and their impacts on business, media, and society. Learn how aggregates producers and service providers can deploy technology successfully and use it to excel in the world of tomorrow. When convention attendees gather for the annual membership meeting on Feb. 12, they'll hear from another acclaimed speaker who will focus on the workforce of the future. Rich Karlgaard, publisher and futurist with Forbes Media, will offer insights from his forthcoming book, Bloom! The Power of Late Bloomers (In a World Obsessed with Early Achievement). He will share his recommendations for workforce development and explore how employers can identify potential late bloomers, why we overrate early bloomers, unique late bloomer strengths and why late bloomers represent value in the competition for employees. Access to both sessions is included with all NSSGA Annual Convention registrations—and those who miss Karlgaard's talk can take in an encore performance later that morning at the AGG1 Academy. www. nssga .org FEB. 12 - 14, 2019 | INDIANAPOLIS, IN INDIANA CONVENTION CENTER Rich Karlgaard Byron Reese REGISTER THROUGH JAN. 25 FOR DISCOUNTED ADVANCE PRICING for both NSSGA Annual Convention and the 2019 AGG1 Academy & Expo.
