The Cooper SEVERE Series WBA provides long miles to removal while handling the harsh operating conditions found in construction truck applications – especially mixers and dump trucks. The tire is available in 385/65R22.5 and 425/65R22.5 sizes, in load range L. According to Gary Schroeder, execu- tive director of Cooper's Global Truck and Bus Tire Business, Cooper con- tinues to broaden its signature line of truck and bus radial (TBR) tires. "Our Cooper SEVERE Series tire line, which now also includes the WBA, provides exceptional performance while giving our customers a low cost of ownership proposition," he said. "The WBA is a premium tire engineered to give those running mixers and dump trucks a tire with the power to outperform others at its price point." The Cooper SEVERE Series WBA fea- tures a five-rib design with 23/32nds of tread and a unique zigzag rib in the center. While unique in looks, the tire is designed to provide exceptional traction and cornering in slippery con- struction site conditions. Special cut, chip and chunk resistant compounds, plus Cooper's Scrub Guard technology, help the tire withstand scrubbing, curbs, and other obstacles typically encountered during opera- tions to ensure longer tire life while maintaining casing integrity. "Since many of our customers run 80 to 90% on-road, with the other duty cycles off-road in quarries and on gravel roads, the tire must give optimal per- formance in both driving conditions," said Schroeder. "And it does. We balance tire life – long miles to removal – with a durable tire that holds up against the toughest of conditions." Featuring notched circumferential ribs, the tire has stone ejector ledges to help reduce and prevent the pene- tration of sharp rocks and stones. In addition, grooved walls contain a dual "shelf " to aid in tread stability – mini- mizing squirm when cornering – while providing additional stone protection. Tie bars stabilize the center rib to enhance driving performance, and a five-inch steel band reinforcement in the lower sidewall provides reinforce- ment and casing durability. The tire features a strong four-belt casing design to help ensure multiple retreads, while Cooper's seven-year, two-retread warranty provides added confidence to buyers. Cooper, www.coopertire.com Continental Widens Product Offering for Rigid Dump Trucks Continental further expanded its tire portfolio for the earthmoving indus- try. The technology company recently launched a new compound for its RDT-Master for the use on rigid dump trucks. The cut-resistant compound was developed for rough and abrasive applications where tires have to with- stand sharp gravel, rocks and stones. The demands placed on off-the-road tires, especially at mining and construc- tion sites, are constantly increasing. At the same time tires must be individ- ually customized to their respective fields of application. The new RDT-Master cut-resistant (CR) has been developed specifically for the use on rigid dump trucks. These vehi- cles are often used in aggressive terrain where resistance to high abrasion and cut and chip are predominantly required. Thanks to the newly devel- oped polymer meshing system based on high synthetic rubber and selected components, the RDT-Master CR offers good protection and wear resistance while still maintaining good levels of heat dissipation. The RDT-Master CR with cut-resistant compound comes with high carcass protection against cuts and damages by foreign objects and an innovative open shoulder design for good self-cleaning abilities and enhanced traction. The new compound complements the stan- dard compound for the RDT-Master, which is best suited for mixed applica- tions on different surfaces. The RDT-Master ST offers a well-bal- anced intermediate compound that covers longer load cycles than its cut-re- sistant counterpart while still offering a good abrasion resistance.
