MAINTENANCE WEAR PARTS Ceiling Fan with Integrated LED Perfect tor Maintenance Shops The Big Ass Fan Co. now offers the world's first LED‐ equipped industrial ceiling fan, an all‐in‐one package that's an ideal addition to facilities' energy‐efficient lighting pro‐ grams. The Powerfoil X LED delivers as much light as a massive, 400W metal halide, covering the entire diameter of the fan while using less than 175W. Its tempered glass lens is de‐ signed to provide excellent optical properties, which mini‐ mize glare. The light is easily installed and ties directly into an existing lighting grid for simple control. The LED is equipped to the Powerfoil X, which is Big Ass Fans' most durable, quiet and effective industrial ceiling fan. It generates huge volumes of gentle air movement using small (1‐2 hp) motors, making it an extremely energy‐effi‐ cient way to cool large areas. With the integration of the LED, the new Powerfoil X LED eliminates any need to rearrange lighting grids to avoid a shadowing effect that may occur with very large (8‐ to 24.‐ft diameter) ceiling fans. Most importantly, the Powerfoil X LED directs the light where it's needed most – beneath the fan where people are working. "The Powerfoil X LED solves a challenge facing many of our customers," said Big Ass Fans CEO Carey Smith. "Combining the quiet operation of the Powerfoil X fan and the cool effi‐ ciency of a state‐of‐the‐art LED light source, Powerfoil X LED is a must‐have for industrial spaces." Big Ass Fans, www.bigassfans.com Technology Provides Test Results for All Lubricants in Minutes On‐Site Analysis Inc. (OSA) has invested more than $23 million dollars in re‐ search and development to pioneer the automation of the fluids testing process, according to the company. This has en‐ abled OSA to move fluids testing out of the laboratory to the customer's loca‐ tion where timely results can be critical to heading off equipment failure. The result is the OSA4 MicroLab. Now, by just selecting the "start" command, all levels of service personnel can do sophisticated diagnostic testing for all types of lubricants in less than 12 minutes. The OSA4MicroLab uses proprietary technology and advanced software ana‐ lytics to instantly capture data about a sample, compare it to ASTM testing standards, identify the lubricant's con‐ dition, and if contaminants are found, send the operator warning alerts and actionable next‐step advice. For businesses currently sending 50 to www.rockproducts.com 75 tests a month to independent labo‐ ratories, the capital costs of the OSA4 MicroLab pay out in a few months and generate on‐going savings in costs per test. For large customers, OSA analyz‐ ers have reduced their maintenance costs by millions of dollars annually. The OSA4MicroLab contains an in‐ frared spectrometer, built‐in dual tem‐ perature viscometer, and integrated particle‐counter, so all types of lubri‐ cants can be tested from engine oil to fluids for hydraulics, transmissions, power steering, gearboxes, differentials and generators. This advanced analyzer can identify the presence of up to 20 metals, measures physical property levels for fuel dilu‐ tion, glycol, nitration, oxidation, soot (diesel engines only), and water, as well as identifies the test fluid's Total Base Number (TBN). All of this functionality is self‐contained in a table‐top console that has an amazingly small footprint of 24‐ x 24‐in. Will Willis, CEO of On‐Site Analysis, Inc., remarks that, "The introduction of the MicroLab reflects just how far our company has come since our early days as a testing laboratory. In 1987, we re‐ alized that by the time lab test results were returned to our customers, the equipment was half way across the country, or had broken down. Now, needed repairs can be identified while the equipment is still in the service bay. And, our equipment is so compact and reliable, customers in the mining in‐ dustry and oil‐rig operators use it in re‐ mote locations all over the world."
