ROCK products • OCTOBER 2014 42 MAINTENANCE & WEAR PARTS EQUIPMENT & TECHNOLOGY Klüber Lubrication Gear Grease, Oils Protect Against Wear and Corrosion Klϋber Lubrication has introduced Klübersynth GE 46‐1200, a synthetic long‐term gear grease for a variety of gear applications, and Klübersynth UH1 6 Series, a complete line of polyg‐ lycol gear oils available in ISO VG from 100‐1,000 for a variety of industries. Klübersynth GE 46‐1200 grease, ideal for temperatures ranging from ‐30 to 120 C, has a high load‐carrying capac‐ ity and protects against wear and cor‐ rosion. The grease, which does not contain lead or solid lubricants, was developed to lubricate spur gears, bevel gears and worm gears with ma‐ terial pairings steel on steel, such as gear motors, small gears and gears in power tools. Klübersynth GE 46‐1200 is also designed to lubricate toothed couplings, ball and roller guides, and rolling and sliding bearings. "Klübersynth GE 46‐1200 has the benefits of a polyglycol base oil in a fluid grease form," explained Craig Desrochers, P.E., application & service engineer for Klüber Lubrication North America L.P. "It offers a high re‐ sistance to oxidation for a long life with a low coefficient of friction." Klübersynth UH1 6 oils offer high‐scuff‐ ing load capacity, micro‐pitting resist‐ ance and exceptional wear protection for gears subject to high loads, with a rating of GFT‐high on the micropitting test ac‐ cording to FVA 54/7. The oils were devel‐ oped to lubricate bevel and spur gears, rolling and plain bearings, types of den‐ ture clutches, and worm gears with steel/bronze pairings, as well as lifting, drive and transport chains. Klübersynth UH1 6 oils feature excel‐ lent aging and oxidation resistance, viscosity‐temperature behavior and thermal stability, helping extend maintenance intervals and service life. In many cases, one viscosity grade can be used for both low and high temper‐ atures. Polyglycol base oils and special additives reduce the friction coeffi‐ cient and provide low wear values, helping Klübersynth UH1 6 achieve a particularly low wear intensity. "Klübersynth UH1 6 was developed based on KlüberComp Lube Technology, which involves the selection of high‐quality raw materials to ensure high‐performance lu‐ brication of all gearbox components," noted Desrochers. "KlüberComp Lube Technology also offers customers individ‐ ual consultation and services by Klüber Lubrication, helping ensure high‐perfor‐ mance lubrication of different gearbox components." Klüber Lubrication, SKF Speedi-Sleeves Resolve Cracking Issues New generation SKF Speedi‐Sleeves used with radial shaft seals in rotating machin‐ ery resolve the micro‐cracking issues typically associated with conventional chrome‐plated sleeves. These sealing solu‐ tions enable users to quickly and efficiently replace worn sealing surfaces without re‐ quiring time‐consuming and unproductive machine disassembly and subsequent shaft regrinding. SKF Speedi‐Sleeves install easily on shafts without using special equipment and can return machinery to service within min‐ utes at a fraction of the cost of traditional shaft reworking. The seals combine a proprietary stainless steel base material with a high quality, non‐chrome surface finish, which elimi‐ nates the potential for development of micro‐cracks common in chrome‐plated versions. Such unwanted surface cracks (visible only by a scanning electron micro‐ scope) create a coarse surface finish, which tests show will accelerate seal wear by four times and, in turn, dramatically shorten seal life. In contrast, SKF Speedi‐Sleeves offer ideal surface hardness and sleeve durability without the pitfalls associated with chrome surface treatments. Ultimately, the unique SKF base sleeve material and sur‐ face finish serve to maximize resistance to wear, provide superior strength and duc‐ tility, and optimize overall seal perform‐ ance and reliability. Applications include industrial gearboxes, fans, pumps, off‐highway and construction equipment, mineral processing machin‐ ery, and all others where existing sealing systems have been compromised. Standard SKF Speedi‐Sleeve sizes can be supplied for shaft diameters from 11.99 mm / 0.472 in. to 203.33mm / 8 in.
