Designed to fit openings as narrow as 9 ¼-in., they are perfect for work in tight quarters. The magnetic base attaches to the drilling surface at almost any angle, including vertical and horizon- tal. With a combination of power and versatility, these proven drills can be used for a wide range of applications including mining, construction, bridge building, rental facilities, heavy con- struction and more. Six interchangeable drill heads, with quick disconnects, are available. Drill heads can be fixture mounted for spe- cial applications, and can be specified without the magnetic base. Manual and manual/automatic power feed drill head models are available. Suitable for indoor or outdoor usage, the Lamina power unit is caster mount- ed for easy movement to and within the jobsite. Each unit includes 15 ft. of hydraulic hoses on the power unit and an additional 7-½ ft. of hydraulic hose on the drill head. Quick disconnect fit- tings ensure fast and easy assembly. Remote speed control pendant is stan- dard. Available in 220V, 440V or 600V at 60Hz, or 380V/50Hz (for export). Standard model is 44.5-in. long x 24.5- in. wide x 54.5-in. tall (compact units also available with smaller dimensions and without hose reel or shelf ). Max- imum flow rate is 12 gpm, standard operating pressure is 1550-1600 psi. Service and support is provided through the company 's extensive technical support network. A rental program on units is designed to fit around sched- uled maintenance breaks or short-term projects and repairs. Dayton Lamina, www.DaytonLamina.com Dayton Lamina Hydraulic Drills Are Portable Boart Longyear introduced the LS250 MiniSonic, a compact drill rig. Capable of drilling to depths of up to 250 ft. when used with 4.75-in. casing, the wide 600-mm rubber tracks pro- vide low ground pressure (.28 bar/4 psi) and make it perfect for jobs in the most sensitive and fragile terrains. Plus, its smaller footprint makes it appropriate for projects with small drill pads, environmentally sensitive areas or hard-to-reach sites and requires less support equipment – making it a low- cost solution for a variety of mining, environmental, geotechnical and infra- structure drilling projects. The LS250 MiniSonic rig offers several distinct advantages over convention- al rigs, noted the company. It provides a relatively undisturbed core sample of unparalleled quality and accuracy through any type of formation, with minimal deviation. When using the iso-flow groundwater profiling system, hydrogeological and geochemical data can be easily obtained. Additionally, drilling with the LS250 MiniSonic reduces waste by up to 80 percent. Sonic drilling is faster than c o nve n t i o n a l ove rb u rd e n d r i l l i n g methods and greatly reduces the risk of project failure due to unknown or diffi- cult subsurface conditions. Safety features of the rig include an interlocked rotation barrier, reduced noise levels, a dump mast and wiggle tail, and a rod presenter. The inter- locked rotation barrier automatically slows head rotation when the barrier is open. The LS250 MiniSonic provides lower noise levels when equipped with the Tier 4i engine package. The LS250 MiniSonic's articulated mast and wiggle tail enables the mast to shift from left to right and front to back to position the mast precisely over the hole, eliminating time-consuming rig movements. The dump mast allows the crew to work from the ground, enhanc- ing safety by avoiding stairs and safe- ty rails often required when working from a platform. The innovative rod presenter allows the rod and casing to be loaded hor- izontally, with an actuator that then presents the rod and casing vertically to the head. The head rotates 28 degrees to the side for sample extraction, while the head slide shift allows for unob- structed winch use down the hole.
