HM Series motors are made from a high-strength, naturally corrosion-re- sistant aluminum alloy, and can be sup- plied with a variety of protective coat- ings and finishes. Aluminum housings are particularly beneficial in car wash- es and food and beverage applications as they offer better heat dissipation, effectively reducing internal motor or gear unit operating temperatures while increasing component life and reliabili- ty compared to cast iron or steel. HMT Series motors are supplied with NORD's exclusive NSD Sealed Surface Conversion System, and they can be of- fered as part of a wide range of integral gearmotor or motorized reducer solu- tions complete with NSD. The product offering includes four continuous-duty, premium, efficient motor sizes rang- ing from 0.5 to 1.5 hp with an IEC B14 flange mount, and many options to configure as a NORD integral gearmo- tor assembly. Motor options are varied and include brakes, thermal overload protection, space heaters, potted ter- minal boxes, condensation drain holes and connectivity solutions. NORD Smooth Surface Motors are readily available and configurable with the NORDBLOC.1 Series Helical-Inline, 93.1 Series (2-Stage) Helical-Bevel and the SMI Series Worm gear units. Inte- gral gearmotor options are available with a wide array of gear ratios and flexible mounting options. The motors and gear units combine durability and compactness in a cost-effective, light- weight and easy to clean solution. They are ideal for applications where sanitation and cleanliness are essen- tial as well as applications in damp and wet environments. NORD NSD product solutions have been field-proven to ri- val more costly stainless steel motors and options. NSD is resistant to blister- ing, flaking and peeling, offers corro- sion resistance across a wide pH range, and a surface that is 1,000 times harder than paint. Key features of NORD Smooth Surface Motors include: • Minimum IP66 ingress protection rating (increased protection avail- able). • Threaded cable entry holes/lip seals on both shaft ends/sealed and gas- keted terminal boxes. • Continuous Duty (S1)/Premium Effi- cient (IE3)/Non-ventilated (TENV). • Common voltages: 230/460-60 Hz, 332/575-60 Hz, 230/400-50 Hz, 460/690-50 Hz. • Inverter/vector duty insulation (rated per NEMA MG1-2011, section • Moisture-resistant varnished dipped windings. • Optional NORD NSDtupH sealed sur- face conversion system. NORD, NORD GEAR Introduces Smooth Surface Motor Rockwell Automation introduced its new Allen Bradley MobileView teth- ered operator interface. The mobile terminal gives plant and industrial personnel the freedom to take a ma- chine's human-machine interface (HMI) with them to make real-time ad- justments to out-of-view applications. The MobileView tethered operator in- terface is ideal for maintenance tasks, machine setup or calibration activities, and other HMI applications that re- quire the operator to see the machine. The inclusion of a hardwired e-stop button and three-position enabling switch also supports applications that require local safety functionality. "Between making an adjustment on the terminal and viewing the results on the machine, fixed operator ter- minals can require a lot of back and forth for personnel, for certain applica- tions," said Matt Hansen, senior prod- uct manager at Rockwell Automation. "The MobileView tethered operator interface puts the terminal in the op- erator's hands to increase productivity and safety. Tasks are made more effi- cient and machines are set up faster." The MobileView tethered operator in- terface complements the Allen-Brad- ley PanelView graphic terminals, giving manufacturers and industrial operators a range of fixed and mobile terminals for different applications. It also uses the FactoryTalk View Ma- chine Edition (ME) HMI software from Rockwell Automation, allow- ing users to develop and re-use their software applications across the Mo- bileView and PanelView platforms. Three cable-length options, ranging from 16.4 ft. to 49.2 ft., offer flexibility. The MobileView tethered operator in- terface uses a 10-in. display with resis- tive touch screen, 2-GB internal SD card for application storage, and USB 2.0 port for high-speed data transfer. Soft- ware assignable functions are available as an option with either a hardwired momentary illuminated pushbutton or three-position key switch.
