Prior to the introduction of ContiAlert, the end user was only aware that they had maximized their belt life when the car- cass became fully exposed. The purpose of the covers is to protect the carcass. When the covers are removed and the carcass is exposed to the application or environment, this can negatively impact belt and splice performance. ContiAlert in real time provides a visual alert that cover wear is approaching exposure of the carcass." ContiAlert is available in the abrasion-resistant lineup of Conti- Tech Select Conveyor Belt specifications and compounds. ContiTech, www.contitech.us John Deere A pillar in mining and quarrying oper- ations, John Deere added the 844K Series-III and 844K Series-III Aggre- gate Handler configuration to its wheel loader line. The workhorse machines offer customers increased uptime and the ability to sell more material more efficiently to improve their bottom lines. "The 844K-III is designed to take on the toughest aggregate and mate- rial-moving applications in the world. We worked closely with our customers to design these productive machines to be even more rugged and reliable," said John Chesterman, product marketing manager, production class four-wheel drive loaders, John Deere Construction & Forestry. "The Aggregate Handler configuration of the 844K-III can load out 24 short tons of non-heaping, low- er-density processed matter in just two passes into on-road dump trucks. Heavier heaping materials achieving 12-plus tons is not a problem." The new wheel loaders offer a 13.5L John Deere PowerTech Final Tier 4 diesel engine that delivers exceptional power at 380 hp for the 844K-III and 401 hp for the aggregate handler configura- tion. The models are equipped with a standard five-speed transmission with torque-converter lockup in gears two through five. This feature increases acceleration, speeds and cycles, and optimizes power and fuel efficiency during transport, roading and ramp climbing. Other Series-III updates include more robust plumbing with additional bulk heads, which improves service and uptime by minimizing hose rubs. More than three-dozen steel tubes replace 81 ft. of hoses. John Deere, www.johndeere.com Eriez Eriez showed its magnetic separation, metal detection and material-handling equipment to detect and remove dan- gerous unwanted metals from conveyed materials. The company displayed its self-cleaning SE-7525 Suspended Electromagnet, 1230 Metal Detec- tor, HVF Heavy Duty Feeder and AIP Pulley. Eriez designs, develops, manufactures and markets magnetic separation, metal detection and mate- rials feeding, screening, conveying and controlling equipment for pro- cess and metalworking industries. This year marks the company's 75 th anniversary. Eriez has evolved into a world leader in separation technolo- gies with manufacturing facilities in Australia, Brazil, China, India, Japan, Mexico, South Africa and the United Kingdom as well as its Erie, Pa., head- quarters. It has sales offices across the U.S. and some 80 international mar- kets on five continents. Eriez, www.eriez.com Flexco Flexco addressed splicing, cleaning, tracking and belt slippage need, fea- turing a full-size conveyor, as well as interactive displays to help attendees better understand the features and benefits of its product solutions. On display at the booth was the PTEZ Belt Trainer. The PTEZ responds and compensates immediately to belt mis- alignment using the tapered end roller profile to engage the training action. This ensures that the belt stays away from the structure and the material stays on the belt without the use of sensor or edge rollers. The PTEZ Belt Trainers can be used on single-direc- tion or reversing belts with speeds up to 1000 fpm (5 m/s). Flexco also fea- tured the Y-Type Secondary Cleaner, a product that is ideal for use in aggre- gate applications. With standard and heavy-duty options available, the Y-Type offers multiple blade options and easy maintenance at an afford- able price. The Cordless Electric Belt Cutter and Bolt Solid Plate Fastening System were showcased as well. Flexco, www.flexco.com
