The company operates out of 23 locations throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, Washington and British Columbia. Huber Carbonates launched Huber- Crete, a series of ground calcium carbonates for fly ash substitution and self-consolidating concrete mixes, at the 2018 Precast Show in Denver. The product is processed in Prime, Pre- ferred and Extra Fine grades of these respective median particle size and Blaine fineness profiles: 15 to 24 µm, 300 to 500 m 2 /kg; 8 to 13 µm, 500 to 700 m 2 /kg; and 3 to 5 µm, 700 to 1,000 m 2 /kg. HuberCrete gradations enable concrete practitioners to take full advantage of the particle packing effect of compan- ion mix design materials, company engineers noted. While not pozzola- nic, they added, the powders promote sub-micron level reactivity by providing calcium surface area augmenting for- mation of hydrated cement compounds. Testing in SCC mixes with target 24-in. spread, HuberCrete Extra Fine and Prime specimens have attained com- pressive strengths of 100 percent at 18 hours against portland cement controls. Extra Fine and Prime con- crete specimens reached respective 28-day compressive strengths of 102 percent and 90 percent compared to controls. Additional HuberCrete benefits for con- crete include improved mix workability and color consistency; neutral effect on curing time; and, contribution to a proj- ect's LEED points through the lowering of portland cement requirements and finished structures/surfaces' solar per- formance characteristics. HuberCrete and other calcium car- bonate products are milled at facilities integrated with Huber Carbonates underground limestone mines in Marble Hill, Ga., Quincy, Ill., and Marble Falls, Texas. The new powder series meets ASTM C1797 Specification for Ground Calcium Carbonate and Aggregated Mineral Fillers for Use in Hydraulic Cement Concrete. Limestone Processor Enters Concrete Market U.S. Concrete Inc. acquired the assets of Golden Spread Redi-Mix, Inc. located in Amarillo, Texas. The acquisition includes 10 fixed ready-mixed concrete plants, and a portable ready-mixed con- crete division consisting of five plants. The acquisition also includes an aggre- gates operation with extensive reserve life that is in close proximity to the Amarillo market. In addition, Golden Spread operates an aggregates and cementitious prod- ucts trucking fleet that supports its ready-mixed concrete and aggregates operations. "This acquisition supports two of the company's strategic initiatives with the entrance into a new Texas market with expansion capability and increased vertical integration within our oper- ating footprint," said U.S. Concrete President, CEO and Vice Chairman, William J.
