Asphalt prices rebounded in 2017 from the 4.3 percent decline experienced in 2016. •  According to the Freedonia Group, asphalt volume is forecasted to grow 3 percent annually through 2021, which would result in an estimated 350 mil- lion metric tons produced in 2017. Asphalt Volume Asphalt Price Crushed Stone 4 • An estimated 339 million metric tons of crushed stone was produced and shipped for consumption in the U.S. in Q4 2017. •  2017 volume (1,352 million metric tons) was down 0.6 percent from 2016 while the average price per metric ton increased 2.8 percent to $11.45.
