Increased investment in transporta- tion improvements at the local, state and federal levels could improve road and bridge conditions, boost safety, increase roadway efficiency and sup- port long-term economic growth in Washington, according to a recent report released by TRIP, a Washing- ton, D.C.-based national transportation organization. According to the TRIP report, "Wash- ington's Top Transportation Challenges: Meeting the State's Need for Safe and Efficient Mobility and Economic Vitality," approximately one-third of the state's locally and state-maintained urban pavements and more than one-fifth of major locally and state-maintained rural pavements are in poor condition. Roads in State of Washington Need Long-Term Investment The W.S. Tyler processing arm of Haver & Boecker held a product demonstra- tion event at a quarry in Pennsylvania. More than 50 aggregates producers braved unseasonably cold weather to attend the sessions, which were held at Glacial Sand & Gravel, Slippery Rock, Pa. Haver & Boecker was assisted by staff from local distributor Kemper Equipment. Rock Products Editor Mark Kuhar and Regional Sales Manager Kyle Nichol were on-hand to see the technology in action. The company demonstrated its Hydro- Clean Mobile Test Plant at the site, which enables operations to test Hydro- Clean washing technology before com- mitting to a capital investment. Aggre- gates producers each transported a few tons of material from their own quarry to see how the unit performed. The company held similar events last year in New Jersey, as well as an open house and technical symposium for more than 70 customers at Haver's Conyers, Ga., office and warehouse complex. "These demonstration events work very well to show producers how our Hydro-Clean technology works," said Kristen Randall, marketing manager for Haver & Boecker. "The opportunity to see it work on actual material from their quarry really helps them see how the technology benefits them." The actual full-sized Hydro-Clean washing unit from Haver & Boecker is designed to clean deleterious materi- al from aggregate, recycled and other minerals while reducing water con- sumption by up to 75 percent. Ideal for use in clay-heavy material deposits, dirty material is fed via hop- per to a vertical washing drum, where high-pressure nozzles mounted at the top rotate and spray the material with water. The water streams spread and wash the material at pressures of up to 2,900 psi, effectively interacting with the material to break up agglomerates and clean the particles of stubborn material. The turbulence in the drum creates additional scrubbing and abrasive forces that enhance the cleaning pro- cess as the material travels down the drum cylinder. High-pressure streams of water are injected into areas of the rock (holes, cracks, etc.) that are diffi- cult to reach with traditional cleaning methods like log washers or screws – creating a cleaner product that gener- ates higher selling value. In addition, many producers use this unit to turn material that was once dirty waste into revenue. Haver & Boecker Demo Event Draws 50 Producers demanding mining applications to build excavators that are highly effi- cient, reliable and durable," said Wall, who is also product marketing man- ager at Hitachi Construction Machin- ery – Americas. "The new ZX300LC-6 is no exception. The machine com- bines power and finesse for maxi- mum productivity on any job from site development, road building, utili- ty work and more." Additionally, John Deere noted that it will soon be introducing a 900 series class of wheel loaders, and launching a new mobile app: GoPush. The com- pany also noted that it has extended its John Deere WorkSight from three to five years in the Ultimate Uptime base package for production-class equipment.
